April 1 Depart Vancouver or Seattle – Please advise your international air.

2 Arrive Beijing – Met by the local guide outside the luggage area holding a sign

up with your name on it. Transfer to the Super 8 Hotel near Wangfujing St.

3 Beijing – B. Guide will take you to the Great Wall at Mutainyu in the morning

with a stop at the Lama Temple known for the 5 story tall Buddha carved from

one tree trunk on your return to the city. Hike as long as you like but I

recommend going left up to where the Wall is in original condition. BL dinner

on your own.

4 Beijing – Free day on your own. B.

5 Beijing/Xian by Z-19 train - Morning free – Guide will pick you up from your

hotel at 12:00 noon and take you to the Summer Palace and the Temple of Heave

Park. Stop at the Rainbow Market before dinner at the Old Beijing Noodle King

restaurant. Transfer to the train station for your night express train to Xian. BD

Lunch on your own.

6 Arrive Xian at 07:00 – Arrive in Xian in the morning and met by the local guide

either on the platform outside your rail car (wait 5 minutes) otherwise

continue on to the exit where the guide will be waiting for you holding up a

sign with your name on it. (Security sometimes does not allow guides to

meet trains on the platforms). Guide will take you to breakfast. You will then

be taken to the famous Terra Cotta Warriors site in the morning with lunch at the

museum. In the afternoon you will visit the old Muslim Quarters and Mosque as

well as a hike on the City Wall which is the best preserved City Wall in China.

Guide will transfer you to the Melody Hotel in the central area to freshen up.

BLD Special Traditional Dumpling Dinner tonight.

7 Xian/Lhasa by air – Guide will transfer you to the airport for your flight to Lhasa.

In Lhasa you will be met by the local guide and transferred to the Shambala

Hotel. Rest of the day to get use to the altitude change. BD

8 Lhasa – Guide will take you to the Potala Palace in the morning before lunch. In

the afternoon you will visit the Sera, Drepung monasteries and Jokang Temple

in the afternoon. BL dinner on your own tonight.

9 Lhasa/Yamdrok Yuntso Lake. In the morning the guide will take you to

Norbulingka, the Dalai LamaÕs Summer residence before leaving for Yuntso

Lake which takes about 3 hours. Check into the Guest House at the lake and

view the birds at dusk. BLD

10 Yamdrok Yumtso Lake/Lhasa by afternoon car. In the early morning you

will want to get up at dawn to view the birds again across the lake and shoreline.

Whenever you wish to leave you may discuss that with the guide and travel back

to Lhasa. If enough time, you will go to the Barkhor Bazaar before checking

back into the Shambala Hotel. BLD

11 Lhasa/Chengdu by train – Guide will take you to the train station to board the

new Lhasa/Chengdu train #T24/1 which leaves at 09:05. B. only.

12 On the train – On the train. No meals included. You might want to be sure to

take bottled water and snacks. Meals are available in the dining car.

13 Arrive Chengdu/Go to the Panda Preserve by car. Arrive by train at 09:55. Guide

will meet you on the platform or at the exit holding up a sign with your name on

it. Guide will take you to an early breakfast/lunch before departing for the Panda

Preserve. Arrive at the Reserve and transfer to the Wolong Hotel. If time visit

the new Panda Museum first. LD

14 Panda Preserve and hike this area which is remote - Visit the Panda reserve and

view the nursery for new born Pandas in the morning. After visiting the reserve

you may take a hike during the day with the guide in this very remote and

beautiful mountain area. BLD

15 Panda Preserve/Chengdu/Chongqing to board the East King Cruise boat

on the Yangtze River. Guide will transfer you back to Chengdu and either to

the airport or bus station depending on the schedule to go to Chongqing. In

Chongqing you will be met by a local agent and taken to dinner before going

to the boat dock to board the East King Cruise boat of the Royal Orient Line.

If there is time, you will be taken to the new Yangtze Dam museum also

before going to the boat dock. BLD

16 Yangtze River Cruise – Will send you the boat itinerary with all off boat side

excursions which will be included when the 2007 brochure is ready. BLD

17 Yangtze River Cruise - BLD

18 Arrive YiChang and transfer to airport for flight to Shanghai – After visiting the

Dam site to get a close up view of the dam and the locks, you will return to the

boat for lunch. An agent will come on board to meet you and transfer you to the

airport for your flight to Shanghai. In Shanghai you will be met by a local agent

and transferred to the Pacific Luck Hotel. BL dinner on your own tonight.

19 Shanghai/Suzhou/Shanghai – Guide will take you to the train station in the

morning for your short ride to Suzhou. Stay on the platform and let the

guide find you (wait 5 minutes) Then proceed to the exit where the

guide will be waiting holding up a sign with your name on it. Guide will

take you to the Humble AdministratorÕs Garden recognized as the #1 garden

in China. Guide will then take you to the Silk Factory to see how silk is

processed from the cocoons. There is a Silk Fashion Show as well as a large

display of silk garments from all 27 factories in the area. Note the Silk

Comforters being made. (we have them on all of our beds as they are fantastic)

Lunch at the factory. Guide will then take you to the Garden of the Nets and

the Lingering Garden before taking a short boat ride on the Grand Cana. Guide

will then return you to the train station for your ride back to Shanghai. In

Shanghai please take a taxi back to the hotel on your own! Remember to

take a card from your hotel to give to the taxi driver. BL dinner on your own.

20 Shanghai/Guiyang by air. – Morning Free (suggest you go down to the Bund

and watch the morning exercises about 06:30 to 08:00) Guide will come after

lunch and transfer you to the airport for your mid afternoon flight to Guiyang.

In Guiyang you will be met by the local guide and transferred to the Royal

City Hotel. BD lunch on your own.

21 Guiyang/Huanguoshu – Guide will transfer you by car to Huanguoshu

waterfall area, largest waterfall area in Asia and #3 in the world. Many

places to hike through this area taking most of the day. Transfer to the

Huangguoshu Hotel resort nearby. Nice indoor and outdoor pools if you enjoy a

swim. BLD

22 Huanguoshu/Anshan - Dragon Palace Cave and several ancient villages one

that is 600 years old and once a fortress. 22 generations of people live here

which descended from those warriors. (Tumpa Han village and fort) One of

the most interesting areas with some minority peoples living in this area as

well. Transfer to the Triumphal Hotel. BLD

23 Anshan/Guiyang airport to Guilin that evening after spending time around

Anshan. Return to Guiyang airport for your flight to Guilin (limited flights

per week here so we need to be flexible) Arrive in Guilin and met

by the local guide and transferred to the Universal Hotel. BLD

24 Guilin - Guide will take you Reed Flute Cave in the morning before going

to Zhemu Village and hike to Daxu in the afternoon. Return to Guilin in

the evening. BL dinner on your own perhaps down by the city lake with

its many restaurants. (hike takes about 4.5 hours along the river)

25 Guilin/Xing An 2500 year old Canal area/9 House Ancient Village which is

exactly as it was 600 years ago with people still living thereÉ.no sellers etc.

and personal tour through some of the homes too. Back to Guilin at night. BL

Dinner on your own.

26 Guilin/Foggy Resort – Out in the countryside near Crown cave amongst

the thumb like hills and on the Li River amongst the rice fields and near

by small village (no sellers) Great hiking in this area. Resort has a

swimming pool and rooms are small and compact like going to a summer

camp but modern facilities. (I was just there and stayed overnight) Next

to no western tourist ever find this place – one of my personal finds) BLD

27 Foggy Resort/board the Li River boat across the rice fields to sail down

river to the lively village of Yangshuo. Guide will transfer you to the boat

dock at Crown Cave in the late morning. In Yangshuo the guide will

transfer you to the New Century Hotel in the village. BL dinner on your

own at any of the many outdoor restaurants on the main street.

28 Yangshuo – Free on your own except if you wish to have the local guide,

Wendy take you hiking and around the area (Moon Hill is near her home)

You deal with her directly as she is a wonderful friend rather than a business

associate. Please advise me in advance if you would like her services or

would rather be on your own as she gets booked up well in advance. B only.

29 Yangshuo/Guilin airport by car and then Hong Kong by air. – Morning free.

Guide will transfer you to the airport for your evening flight to Hong Kong

at an agreed time to meet for your return to Guilin. B only. In Hong Kong

you will be met by the local agent and transferred to the Ramada Kowloon

Hotel.

30    Hong Kong – Home Transfer yourself to the airport. Remember to be at

            the airport at least two hours before your flight departure time. B. only.

drivers, transfers as listed, all transportation, and Tibet permits.
