23 Day Ecological China Tour

Day      1          Depart your country.

            2          Arrive Beijing – Met by guide and transferred to your hotel in the central

                        area.  D if you arrive early.

            3          Beijing – Guide will take you to Tiananmen Square, The Forbidden City

                        and the Hutongs old neighborhoods with a visit to a Chinese family?s

                        home.  BL   dinner on your own near your hotel.

            4          Beijing – Guide will take you to the Great Wall at Mutianyu with cable

                        car in both directions to be included.  Stop at the Lama Temple on the

                        way back to the city known for the 5 story tall Buddha carved from one

                        tree trunk.  BLD

            5          Beijing/Xian by night express train and 1st Class sleeper.  During the day

                        you will visit the Summer Palace and the Temple of Heaven Park.  If time

                        you will visit Xiu-Xiu market before an early dinner and transfer to the
                        train station.  BLD

            6          Xian – You will arrive in the early morning and be met by your local

                        guide on the platform. (please wait for the guide to find you).  Guide

                        will take you to breakfast and to drop off your luggage at the hotel.

                        Guide will then take you to the famous Terra Cotta Warriors site and

                        the Tang Dynasty Winter Palace known as the HuaQing Pools. 

                        BLD   Special Traditional Dumpling Dinner tonight.

            7          Xian/Chengdu by afternoon air.  In the morning the guide will take you

                        to the Shaanxi Museum one of the best in China.  After lunch the guide

                        will transfer you to the airport for your flight to Chengdu.  In Chengdu

                        you will be met by the local guide and transferred to your hotel.  This

                        evening you will enjoy a traditional Sichuan Hot Pot Dinner.  BLD

            8.         Chengdu/Wolong – Guide will take you by car to the famous Wolong

                        Panda Preserve through the beautiful mountains of Sichuan province.

                        You will see new born Pandas in the incubators as well as the many

                        Pandas in their natural habitat and new facilities just built in 2004.

                        Visit the new Panda Preserve Museum just opened in 2004 also. 

                        Transfer to your local guesthouse.  BLD

            9          Wolong/Rilong – Travel through the sparsely populated mountains

                        and over Mt. Balangshan Pass at over 13,000? to Rilong Valley known

                        for beautiful flowers and natural beauty.  Transfer to the hotel.  BLD

10        Rilong – Hike along the creek from GuoZhuangPing enjoying the
natural beauty of this area known for flowers and wild birds and animals.

            11        Rilong/Xiaojin – You will go over another Pass and come to Xiaojin

                        for lunch.  Transfer to a Guest House in this small village and spend

                        time hiking around the area including the village.  BLD

12        Xiaojin/Danba – Continue through the mountains to Dawei Village site of
the famous Mao?s Long March bridge where he met up with another army.

                        Most of the children in this small village speak some English.

                        Continue on to Danba and the Tibetan Village of  Jiaju where you will

                        transfer to a Tibetan family Guest House.  BLD

            13        Danba – You will experience life staying in the Guest House of a local

                        Tibetan family and be able to hike around this wonderful mountain

                        village visiting neighbors.  After lunch you will visit the Watch

                        Towers nearby, stop in the village of Danba before returning for dinner.

            14        Danba/Kangding – You will bid goodbye to your Tibetan family and

                        travel through the mountains and plateau to the grasslands and the

                        Buddhist Huiyuan Monastery one of the best Tibetan monasteries in

                        China where the 11th Dali Lama lived for several years.  After lunch

                        at the country guest house of the Golden Sun you will make a stop at

                        the Tagong Monastery known for the 167 lbs. of pure gold leaf used

                        on the top and surface of the monastery.  Continue on to Kangding

                        one of the larger cities in these mountains.  It is very unique with a

                        roaring river that goes down the middle of the town.  Transfer to a

                        local hotel.  BLD

            15        Kangding/Moxi Village (Hailuogou National Park)  You will go over

                        another 12,000?  Pass on the way to Moxi which is the entrance to

                        Hailuogou Park.  Enjoy the scenery along the way and transfer to

                        the Long March Hotel.  Visit Moxi village which is very friendly

                        in this remote area.  BLD


            16        Hailougou – Today you will go up the mountain to the end of the

                        road and hike through the forest to the Glacier.  (if you like as an

                        option you may take a cable car across the Glacier and up onto the

                        mountain at your own expense)  After lunch you will come down

                        the mountain ½ way to the wonderful Hailougou Hot Springs one

                        of the best in China.  5 Levels of pools all at different temperatures

                        to relax and enjoy the medicinal affects of the pools.  The views

                        are fantastic as you look out into the mountains.  Return to Moxi.

            17        Hailougou/Chengdu – You will pass through the beautiful

                        mountains and return to Chengdu today.   This evening you will

                        be taken to a Grandma?s Kitchen for dinner for some western

                        food as a change. BL   (D order on your own and pay yourself.)

            18        Chengdu – Today you will go to Leshan home of the largest

                        Buddha in the world who sits at the meeting of two rivers. After

                        lunch you will go to Yellow Creek Village a UNESCO site which

                        is a village that represents old China as it was 150 years or more.

                        Return to Chengdu.  BLD

            19        Chengdu/Guilin by early morning air.  Guide will transfer you to

                        the airport for your flight to Guilin.  In Guilin you will be met by

                        a local guide and transferred to your hotel.  During the afternoon

                        you will visit Jiuwa 9 House Village and Reed Flute Cave if there

                        is time.  BLD  (wonderful central area around the lake for walking)

            20        Guilin/Yangshuo – Guide will take you through the countryside to

                        the boat dock to board your Li River Cruiser to sail down one of

                        the most beautiful scenery spots in all of China.  Arrive at the

                        village of Yangshuo and transfer to a local hotel.  BLD

            21        Yangshuo/Guilin/Shanghai – In the morning enjoy this wonderful

                        village once visited by Presidents Carter and Clinton.  Good bargains,

                        good food and a wonderful place to rent a bicycle and go out into

                        the countryside before lunch.  Guide will transfer you to the airport

                        for your evening flight to Shanghai.  In Shanghai you will be met

                        by the local guide and transferred to your hotel.  B only.   Lunch

                        and dinner on your own today.

            22        Shanghai – Guide will take you to the Yu Garden, best in China, in

                        the old district.  You will then be taken to lunch near the Xiang Yang

                        Market area on Weihai Rd.  After lunch the guide will take you

                        through the Market area and then to the Shanghai National Museum.

                        Guide will then take you back to your hotel for a short rest and perhaps

                        a snack on your own before the guide returns and takes you to the

                        famous Shanghai Acrobats Show in the evening.  BL  dinner on your own.

            23        Shanghai/Home – Guide will transfer you to the airport for your flight

                        home.  B. only.

Included:  Hotels, meals as indicated, all domestic transportation and transfers, English speaking guides

               with professional drivers, sightseeing and some entertainment as indicated.  

Not included:  Tips to guides and drivers, Chinese visa (we have the forms for you to apply) international

                      air (we will be glad to quote you or you may use your own air) and any expenses of a

                     personal nature or not specifically listed as included.

            2-5 people  $3595 pp dbl. occ. + air   Single Supplement   $600.

            10+ people $2695 pp dbl. occ. + air   Single Supplement   $500.

Tours use clean 3 star or best hotels available in the remote areas.  In Beijing

Xian, Chengdu and Shanghai, 4 or 5 star hotels may be used if you desire.  Please

ask for a quote for upgrades.

International air not included.  You may use your own air or frequent fly miles.
