SILK ROAD TOUR
Day 1 Depart Your Country
2 Arrive Beijing – Met by guide and transferred to your central area
hotel.
3 Beijing – Guide will take you to Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City
and the Temple of Heaven. BLD
4 Beijing – Guide will take you to the Great Wall at Badaling, the
Summer Palace and the Lama Temple. BLD
5 Beijing/Urumqi by morning air. In Urumqi you will be met by the
local guide and taken to lunch. After lunch you will go to the Grand
Bazaar and city tour. Transfer to central area hotel. BLD
6 Urumqi/Heavenly Lake/Urumqi - Guide will take you to beautiful
Heavenly Lake and boat ride past a temple built in 1221. Have lunch
at one of the Family restaurants at a Yurt. Return to Urumqi. BLD
7 Urumqi/Kashgar by morning air. Met by the local guide and taken to
lunch. After lunch you will visit the Markets, Muslim Mosque and
Tombs. Transfer to your central area hotel. BLD
8 Kashgar/Urumqi by afternoon air. Guide will take you to the Grand
Baazar and City Mosque before lunch. After lunch you will be
transferred to the airport for your flight back to Urumqi. In Urumqi
you will be met by the local guide and transferred to your hotel. BLD
9 Urumqi/Turpan by car. Guide will take you through the beautiful
desert and flaming mountains to Turpan in the Gobi desert. In the
afternoon you will visit the SuGong Tower and Mosque built in 1777
with the only Minaret or Tower in the Muslim world. Visit the
Bezeklik Thousand Budda Caves. Transfer to your hotel. BLD
10 Turpqn/Urumqi – Guide will take you to Grape Valley known for the
sweetest grapes in the world. Visit the one and only winery and taste
the many wines they produce. Have lunch with a local family in
their home of traditional Muslim food. See how they produce raisons
above their homes. In the afternoon you will return to Urumqi to
your hotel. BLD (if time you will visit the ancient city of Gaochang)
11 Urumqi/Dunhuang – Guide will take you to the airport for your morning
flight to Dunhuang. In Dunhuang you will be met by the local guide. You
will visit the local Silk Road Museum to learn the history of the Silk Road.
Guide will transfer you to your hotel. BLD
12 Dunhuang – Guide will take you to the famous Mugao Caves known to be
the best preserved Buddhist Caves in China started in 366 B.C. until 492.
There are 735 caves. The Library Cave was only discovered in 1900
hidden behind another cave. In the afternoon you will visit the large
Sand Dunes and take a camel ride if you wish. Have a cold drink at the
Crescent Lake Oasis. Return to the city. BLD
13 Dunhuang/Xian by mid morning air. In Xian you will be met by the local
guide and taken to lunch before transferring to your central area hotel. In
the afternoon you will visit the famous Shaanxi Provincial Museum. In
the evening you will attend the famous Tang Dynasty Dinner and Show.

14 Xian/Beijing by evening air. In the morning the guide will take you to the
famous Terra Cotta Warriors site and hopefully meet one of the farmers
who originally found the site while digging a well. (he is usually found
signing books) In the afternoon after lunch at the Museum you will go
to the HuaQing Pools Winter Palace of the Tang Dynasty. Guide will
transfer you to the airport for your flight to Beijing. In Beijing you will
be met by the local agent and transferred to a central area hotel. BL

15 Beijing/Home - Guide will transfer you to the airport for your flight
home. B. only.
