Tour Across Takamankan Desert in 5 Days from Urumqi

Day 1   Urumqi/Kashgar - Morning air to Kashgar.  Met by the local guide and

  taken to the Akabh Jojia Mausoleum and the wonderful Idkah Mosque visit.  

Transfer to the Tianyuan 4 star hotel.    LD

      2    Kashgar - Guide will take you to the Grand Baazar in the morning and the

            City Mosque.   After lunch you will be taken to one of the old Muslim sections

            of the city for a tour of this wonderful maze of ancient homes some over 500

            years old. Visit some local markets and Ughur home visits seeing how people  

            continue to live as they did hundreds of years ago.  BLD

      3     Kashgar/Shache - Guide will take you across the desert by car or private bus to

            Shache which was an important trade center visited twice by Marco Polo.  Visit

            the local Mosque and Mausoleum with tombs of the Yarkant Kings.  Visit some

            of the local craftsmen in their homes and shops.  Transfer to the best hotel in this

            desert town the Shache Hotel.  BLD

      4     Shache/Hotan - Drive to Hotan and visit the Markets  (hopefully on Sunday when

            the markets get larger)  This city is famous for Jade and a very remote Silk

            carpet workshop  (I have a carpet in my home from this workshop).   The Market

            in Hotan is very famous in China and known for their very low prices.  Transfer

            to the Hotan Hotel, best in the town.   BLD

      5     Hotan/Urumqi -  You will visit the Malikewat Ancient ruins nearby and other

            scenic areas today.  Guide will then transfer you to the airport for your evening

            flight back to Urumqi.  BL
