Lhasa and Tsedang 6 Day Tour

Day     1          Tsedang – On arrival at the Lhasa airport you will be met by the local guide and

                        be transferred to Tsedang and to your hotel located at the heart of this

                        prosperous small town.  You will rest and acclimate yourself to the high altitude

                        before taking an easy orientation tour by walking not far from your hotel in the

                        afternoon.  LD

            2          Tsedang – This area is one of the most important cradles of Tibetan civilization.

                        You will be taken to the Yumbu Lakuang Palace the oldest palace in Tibet, the

                        Samye Monastery (the first integrated monastery in Tibet) and the Trandruk

                        Temple.  BLD

            3          Tsedang/Lhasa – You will be driven to Lhasa stopping by the Yamdrok-tso Lake

                        which is sacred to Tibetans at 16,000 feet above sea level.   You will stop at one

                        of the several villages near by and visit a local Tibetan home to see what life is

                        like in the countryside at this high altitude.   Continue on to arrive in Lhasa in

                        the late afternoon and transfer to your hotel.  BLD

            4          Lhasa – Today you will visit the splendid Potala Palace and taken to a special

                        platform nearby where you will be able to get a great panoramic view of the

                        Palace and take the best photos from there.  Your guide will then take you to

                        visit the Jokhang Temple situated at the heart of the holy Barkhor Kora where

                        you will see an endless stream of Tibetan pilgrims.  Pay a visit to the Ani

                        Tstang Kung Nunnery hidden in the back street just in walking distance.  You

                        can sit among the locals and taste yak butter tea at the simple teahouse run by

                        the nuns.  BLD

            5          Lhsas – In the morning you will pay a visit to the local markets where you will

                        find foods, herbs, household utensils and jewelry.  Later you will be taken to

                        Norbulingka, the Dalai Lama’s Summer Palace and go to the Sera Monastery

                        in the afternoon.  If lucky you will see the monks debating their religion which

                        can be very active.  You will then visit the Thousand Buddha Cliff Carvings

                        which is not widely known by tourists but is highly worshipped by the local

                        Tibetans.  BLD

            6          Lhasa Departure – Free on your own to explore around the local area until the

                        guide comes to transfer you to the airport or train station for your departure.
