Lhasa Tour

Day   1  Chengdu - The guide will take you to the Chengdu Research Base of the Giant

            Panda Breeding Center located in the northern suburb of Chengdu.  You will see

            the young and mature Pandas there and perhaps get to see a new arrival too.  After

            lunch you will visit the Buddhist  Wenshu Temple and the Tibetan Museum at

            Sichuan University.  LD

      2     Chengdu/Lhasa -  Guide will transfer you to the airport for your morning flight

            to Lhasa.  You will be greeted by the local tour guide and transferred to the city

            which is about 2 hours from the airport.  The rest of the day you will be at leisure

            to relax and adjust to the high altitude at your hotel.  BLD

      3     Lhasa - In the morning you will be taken to the Potala Palace which was firest

            built in the 7th century by the famous Tibetan king-Songtzen Gampo.  The

            present one was built by the 5th Dalai Lama in the 17th century.  After lunch you

            will visit Jokhang Temple situated in the old section of Lhasa.  King Songtzen

            Gampo built this temple in the mid-7th century and is now the most sacred place

            in Tibet.  Visit Barkhore Street in the evening.  BLD

      4     Lhasa - A full day of sightseeing takes you to Drepung Monastery which occupies

            an area of 150,000 square meters with 7700 lamas and becomes the largest

            monastery in Asia.  After that you will visit Norbulingka Park the summer palace

            of the Dalai Lama.   Your guide will then take you to visit Sera Monastery which

            is known as one of the three greatest monasteries of  Tibet.  Here is where the

            famous Daily Debates take place.  BLD

      5     Lhasa - Today you will take the tour to Namtso Lake via Yangpachen hot-spring.

            On the way you will see Nyenchen Thanglha snow mountain ranges, and also

            pass the Nagela Pass.  Namtso Lake is the sky lake which is one of the three holy            

lakes and also the highest salt lake at an altitude of 4740 meters.  You can do a bit

            of trekking at the lake side and enjoy a hot spring if you like.  Return to Lhasa

            in the late afternoon.  BLD

      6     Lhasa/Chengdu - Guide will transfer you to the airport for your flight to Chengdu.
